Continuing its steady Canadian expansion, global casual apparel chain Uniqlo reports that its next opening will take place on March 9th where the Japanese chain will open an 18,000 square foot location on the second level of the Guildford Town Centre at 152nd St in Surrey. “The launch of two additional Uniqlo stores in British Columbia is very exciting for us,” said Yasuhiro Hayashi, COO of Uniqlo Canada. “We opened our first store in the greater Vancouver area last Fall and we received great demand from customers for more stores. This newest expansion demonstrates our commitment to bring LifeWear to more Canadians on the West Coast.” It will be the chain’s fourth store in Canada. Uniqlo is a brand owned by Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., a Japanese holding company that designs, manufactures and sells clothing under several brands. The company has more than 1900 stores in 19 markets worldwide. The company added that another Western Canada store is planned for opening in CF Richmond Centre in Richmond, later in Spring 2018. It will have a total sales floor of about 8000 square feet on the mall’s first level. Jeffrey Berkowitz at Aurora Realty Consultants Inc. has been retained to assist in the company’s Canadian expansion. The Uniqlo stores will operate in 15,000 to 40,000 square foot mall and high street locations.
